Irish Day in VC!
“Irish Day” in Virginia City

Join the Ancient Order of Hibernians on June 12, in Virginia City, as they celebrate the deep history of the Irish in Madison County.

The day’s public activities begin at 9:00 a.m. with a ceremony at the County Courthouse to raise the Irish colors, complete with bagpipes.

At 1:30 p.m., the AOH will join a gathering of the Shriners for a parade along Wallace Street.

Beginning at 4:00, the public is also encouraged to attend presentations on Irish history at the Rehearsal Hall (316 West Idaho). Carroll College Professor Emeritus Henry Burgess will present “Barney Hughes: One of a Kind," followed by Gary Forney’s program on “The Irish of Madison County.” Forney’s program will include a brief walking tour of sites with links to famous, or infamous, Irish in Virginia City history.

The day’s programs end with a concert of Celtic music by the Dillon Fiddlers at the Bale of Hay, from 6:00-7:00.

Erin go bragh!
