First popularized in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Chautauqua brought entertainment and culture for the whole community with speakers, teachers, musicians, entertainers and specialists of the day. Today the tradition continues with a variety of writers, musicians and special topic speakers taking center stage at the Elling House.
